Plant Educational Resources

learn more about plants

NotebookOne of the goals of our project is that the information in Louisiana herbaria be of greater value and relevance to a wider range of faculty and students. The neglect of plants in biology education continues to be a source of concern for biology faculty, especially those of us who are responsible at least in part for training future biology teachers. By making botanical resources such as plant images, structures, and keys readily available online and in a user-friendly manner, students will learn about CyberFlora Louisiana and will then explore the site. Later, as more regional (SERNEC), national (GBIF), and international information becomes available, the portal will become an important research tool for projects in ecology, conservation, biogeography, etc. Similarly, these resources will be extremely beneficial for teachers seeking information about plants. Most importantly, dynamic programming allows information to be made available to visitors in age-appropriate formats and detail.
